A Blended Approach for the Post Graduate Diploma:TVET
Monday, March 27, 2023An online environment was created within iKamva for the ‘PG Dip: Technical Vocational Education & Training (TVET)’ Programme. The programme employs a rigorous methodology of reflective practice, supported by the use of:
- Login and navigate the online environment
- Access course resources and lesson contents
- Engaging in communication tools such as chat rooms and discussion topics
- Submission of assignments and engagement in online tests and quizzes
- Contact details for the various support centres: eg: eLearning & ICS
Blended mode of delivery (Block Week sessions)
The students attended an initial online orientation session (4 March 2023) whereby the following weere presented:
- Welcome and expectations
- Digital literacy (iKamva navigation)
- Academic literacy
- Finding literature (Library orientation)
Thereafter the students engaged with the lecturers “online” contact sessions with the lecturers.
Sharing of Content - structured lesson pages
The lecturers created a space whereby module content could be explored through a variety of digital media components. The modules are structured according to weeks, to include sections such as “warm up, introduction, core readings, supplementary readings, questions, tasks and lesson notes”. The lecturers provided students with videos, PowerPoint presentations, articles and online discussions that students are expected to engage in.
