Life Sciences Module: Tutoring Supervisor Creates Online and In-Class Tutorial Assessments

Tutoring Supervisor, Dr Zimasa Dubeni consulted with the CIECT team about the design of online assessments within the Life Sciences (LSC 141) module. Students are expected to complete assessments online and in class.

Online Tutorials Setup with Mark-up Text Assessment: Bulk Upload
Dr Dubeni created online tutorial activities which consist of Multiple-Choice Questions. The Mark-up Text assessment feature was used to upload a bulk of questions.

Setting Appropriate Time Limits for Online Tutorial Submissions
Students were allowed one submission with a time limit and engaged in the tests in linear navigation. The marks were made available to the students upon submission.

Setting Up The Gradebook for In-class Tutorial Submissions
Tutors capture marks for in class activities within a Google Spreadsheet. These marks are imported into the iKamva Gradebook. This enables the students to view their personal grades and related weighting online.
