CIECT Equips GLAs across Faculties: Design, eTools, Multimedia and AI
Monday, October 19, 2026The Centre for Innovative Education and Communication Technologies (CIECT) has designed and delivered a targeted training programme for Graduate Lecturing Assistants (GLAs). The customised programme, titled An eTools Kit for Lecturers and GLAs, was developed to strengthen GLAs’ digital teaching capabilities and confidence in blended and online environments across faculties.
A total of 173 GLAs participated actively in the programme across faculties, which took place during the 2026 academic year. All sessions were recorded and made available to participants, enabling continued access to the material as a reference resource while they apply these tools in their teaching practice.
At the end of a workshop, GLAs should be able to:
- Create online environments
- Select eTools in relation to its pedagogical affordances
- Structure lesson pages
- Setup tutorial groups
- Monitor and track student engagement
- Share announcements
- Make use of hybrid teaching technologies
- Integrate hybrid and multimedia components
- Make effective use of Google Workspace tools
- Understand anti-plagiarism tools
- Ethically embrace Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools
Prepare for 2027
Faculties are encouraged to engage with CIECT well in advance to plan and schedule suitable training sessions for 2027, ensuring that the necessary arrangements can be made to accommodate their requirements.
