The CIECT Team has designed and developed the Digital Academic Literacy (DAL) Programme. This basic computer literacy programme is offered to 1st year students (novice users).  The CIECT Team collaborates with Faculties to identify student needs. The programme is integrated into accredited modules across various faculties including EMS, Education, CHS, Dentistry, Law and Arts.

The DAL Programme is offered over a semester to participating faculties. In addition, some departments engage with CIECT to design customised lessons. During the lockdown the team implemented a Skills Assessment Manager (SAM) platform, an interactive online training platform in order to deliver remotely to 4217 first year students.

A multi-modal facilitation and support approach included, the use of various platforms:

§  iKamva (Learning Management System): Various eTools for lessons and communication; and assessment

§  SAM: Interactive online environment, including simulationsinstructional videos and a self-assessment interface.

§  Google Meet  (for online ‘live classes’)

Faculty Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

The CIECT team conducts formal meetings with specific departments, to discuss the needs analysis and scope of the delivery of the Digital Academic Literacy (DAL) Programme. SLAs are signed-off prior to the start of the programme. Hence, planning is conducted in advance.

**The CIECT team is currently finalising the 2022 SLAs.

NB: CIECT is not able to accommodate any new department for the current academic year 2022 [Semester1]. Planning also involves collaboration with the ICS Department for Labs/Venues.

Contact the DAL Manager to plan and customise, in advance for Semester 2 (2022); and 2023.
