Education Faculty: Prospective ‘Educators/Teachers’ learn how to create Afrikaans lesson plans
Wednesday, August 17, 2022
Lecturer Ada James-Almano has created and interactive online environment for her 3rd Third year Afrikaans students (TMA303). This online space promotes effective communication and lesson planning.
Lecturer ‘models the behaviour’: Creation of Lesson Plans
The lecturer shared
the module guide, as well as the national and provincial language policies.
Furthermore, the
lecturer modelled the behaviour by sharing lesson
plan templates which students could review and use to structure their own
lesson plans (i.e. for a specific Afrikaans topic).
Structured learning material
The lecturer makes
use of the Course Resources eTool to structure
the learning material, including documents (Word, Pdf files); and PowerPoint presentations.
**Students are able
to view the resources without incurring any data costs provided they connect
using the Open VPN.
Assessments
The lecturer has
created Individual assignments for students via the Assignments eTool. These assignments are ‘inline and attachments’ type assessments. This enables students to
write their answers in the textbox; or they are able to complete their assignments
offline and attach their completed assignments.
Communication
The lecturer makes
continuous use of the Announcements
eTool to communicate with her students. The lecturer posts communications and
details regarding lectures, exams and assessment that are due. Announcements notifications are linked
to the students email accounts which ensures more immediate access via their
mobile devices.
