Lecturer
Carmel van Niekerhas structured her 2nd year Law of Delict (DEL 201) course
within the iKamva platform. The lecturer made use of various eTools within the
module.
Checklist to help students track their progress
A
checklist was added to each lesson page within the module to help students
track their progress. Students were able to tick which tasks were completed.
This allows for individual learning progress as the students focus on specific
task/s. The lecturer was able to view the checklist and monitor the student
progress and intervene where there was a concern ‘for students at risk’.

Structured
interactive lecture presentations
Lecture
topics were carefully structured, whereby each topic is presented on a separate
lesson page. Lecture recordings were embedded which enabled students to view
asynchronously. Assessments were linked via the Lesson pages and enabled
students to complete and submit.
Tutorial
assessment activities aligned to final assessment
The lecturer made use of the Test &
Quizzes eTool to publish the tutorial assessments. The lecturer has
created a series of tutorials that built up to the final assessment. These
tutorial assessments included various question types such as Multiple Choice
Questions (MCQs), True and False, and Short Answer Essay. Depending on the
format, the system could automatically mark specific question types, whereas
Short Answer essay questions were marked by the lecturer. Feedback and marks
were made available to the students.
