Law Faculty Module: Formative Assessments Aligned to Study Units and Summative Sit Down Examination
Friday, August 7, 2026Lecturer Latiefa Manie has created interactive blended learning environment for the module, Law of Persons (LOP 112). The module is carefully structured to guide students through the learning process using the Lessons eTool. Course content is organised into manageable, bite-sized learning units, enabling students to engage with the material progressively rather than becoming overwhelmed by large volumes of content.
Study Units: Aligned to Formative Assessments and Related Learning Material
Study units are scaffolded. Each unit entails a motivational quote from the lecturer, an outline, related material and activities. Each unit is also aligned with a corresponding formative assessments, allowing students to evaluate their understanding before progressing to the next topic. This scaffolded approach supports knowledge development while providing regular opportunities for feedback and self-assessment.

An equally important aspect of the module is the lecturer's use of Important Announcements to communicate information relating to sit-down examinations. Examination dates, venues, times, and assessment requirements are communicated clearly and in advance.
Benefits of the Announcements
- Centralised Communication: Provides a single, reliable location for all course-related announcements and updates.
- Timely Information: Keeps students informed about important notices, deadlines, and schedule changes.
- Improved Organisation: Ensures communication is structured, consistent, and easy for students to access.
- Enhanced Student Engagement: Encourages students to log in regularly and remain actively involved in the course.
- Clear Guidance: Reinforces key instructions, learning activities, and assessment requirements.
- Equal Access to Information: Ensures all students receive the same information at the same time, promoting fairness and transparency.
- Supports Student Success: Helps students stay organised, manage their time effectively, and meet course expectations.
