Lecturer, Jeffrey Hoffman requested a face-to-face workshop on Lesson Design and Narrated PowerPoint for Nursing Education students, as part of their practical learning for the Engaged Teaching & Learning module (NED 713).  This workshop took place on Friday, 14 August 2026.

Students Learn how to Develop Narrated PowerPoint Presentations

The CIECT Materials Development team conducted training on how to add narration to presentations. The students are expected to make use of narrated PowerPoint presentations for lesson planning.

Use of an Instructional Design Strategy to Plan Online Lessons

Students engaged in a session that involved the development of clear outcomes for online course design, using an instructional strategy/plan. This instructional strategy is used to plan the outcomes, assessment activities, resources and eTools that will be used for a particular lesson.

Online Lesson Design Structure and Embedding of Resources
The students were provided access to an online environment in order to design and develop their lessons.  This entailed:

  • Structuring lesson plan/module chapters and sub-units into manageable units/themes(scaffolded approach).
  • Upload and embed learning material and digital components.
  • Add a checklist for self-directed learning.
  • Linking activities such as discussion topics, assignments, tests.
