Audio-Visual Support at the Autumn Graduation Ceremonies

The Centre for Innovative Education and Communication Technologies (CIECT) provides Audio-Visual support services to all academics and non-academics across faculties and departments at UWC. In addition to maintenance work, the AVS team has been instrumental in providing AV support at university events, including Graduation ceremonies.
 

At the Autumn Graduation (14th – 21st April), the AVS team provided a number of services, including:

• Filming the event with a multiple camera setup
• Live streaming of the event through a Blackmagic multicamera live streaming technology to the official UWC YouTube channel
• Adding UWC branding to the live stream
• Setting up of a Daylight screen (4 metres by 2-metres configuration)
• Providing sound in the venue with a dedicated sound technician controlling microphones and music
• Setting up screens in the hall and in overflow venues to display the ceremony from remote locations

The team has to set-up in advance, and this entails working beyond office hours.

A project of this nature requires detailed logistical planning in order to succeed. Thus the AVS team also collaborates with the events department of Institutional Advancement, in order to deliver successful graduation ceremonies.
