The Coordinator of the Ad Hoc AI Task Team within the Faculty of Education, Dr Karen Collett, and the Education faculty staff, together with stakeholders from departments and faculties across the University, worked collaboratively to develop Artificial Intelligence (AI) Guidelines for students and staff.
Faculty of Education: Commitment to Fostering Responsible AI Literacy
This collaborative initiative reflects the Faculty's commitment to fostering responsible AI literacy and ensuring that the use of AI enhances teaching, learning, assessment and research while upholding the principles of academic integrity, transparency and ethical practice. The guidelines have been developed in alignment with the University's institutional principles and framework for the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence. They provide a shared foundation for students and staff to engage with AI technologies confidently and responsibly, offering practical guidance on the appropriate use of AI across academic contexts. As AI continues to transform higher education, these guidelines support the Faculty's vision of embracing innovation while maintaining the values of critical thinking, human judgement and ethical decision-making that underpin quality education.
Practical Artificial Intelligence (AI) Guidelines for Students
The Faculty's Student AI Guidelines have been developed to support both students and academic staff by promoting AI literacy and encouraging the responsible use of AI technologies in teaching, learning and assessment. The guidelines provide practical guidance on the appropriate use of AI tools, highlight available support resources and training opportunities, and encourage staff to rethink course design and assessment practices within an AI-enabled educational environment.

Practical AI Guidelines for Staff
The Staff AI Guidelines complement the student guidelines by providing academic and professional staff with principles for the ethical integration of AI into teaching, learning, assessment and administrative practices. They encourage responsible innovation while maintaining academic integrity, transparency and critical engagement with AI technologies.
